T. Addison Richards lived in Forsyth when he was a young boy. His father, a Baptist minister, taught school here before moving his family to Penfield. In 1842 T. Addison Richards and his brother William Cary Richards published Georgia Illustrated, which included the artist’s depiction of High Falls. T. Addison Richards moved to New York in 1845, where he painted, wrote travel books, illustrating them with his own sketches, and held the office of Secretary of the National Academy of Design for forty years.
